Favorite Outdoor Activities in North Conway

North Conway is a stunning, four season destination with no shortage of outdoor activities to enjoy the area’s breathtaking natural beauty. Here are some of our favorites:

Mount Washington Valley Rec Path - one of the most exciting new additions to North Conway is the recreational path directly behind the townhouse! Our group of townhouses are the only residences directly off the bike path. You can bike, jog, or walk your dog in the summer. In the winter, you can snowshoe and cross-country ski. We are less than a mile to Cranmore Mountain on the bike path.

Hiking & Mountain Biking - right down the street, you’ll find one of the largest and best trail systems in the Mount Washington Valley at Green Hills Preserve/Pudding Pond, and the trails go from easy to difficult. All Trails is a great app to help you navigate.

Diana’s Baths - a beautiful scenic hike with multiple waterfalls. It is a favorite place to go with our family and friends. In the summer, get there early (8:30 am), or you may experience a long wait. Pack a lunch and spend the day.

Echo Lake State Park - park reservations are recommended. A great place to picnic and has a gorgeous view of Cathedral Ledge.

Cathedral Ledge - you can drive to the overlook and experience the most beautiful views of Mount Washington Valley. It is particularly magical in the Fall season. The road leading up to the overlook is closed during the winter months.

Kancamagus Highway - a scenic drive and great stops to park and cool off in the warmer months. We love Lower Falls and Rocky Gorge.

Nestlenook Farms - a magical place in the winter for sleigh rides and ice skating.

Mount Washington Auto Road - drive to the summit of Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast United States. Check mt-washington.com for availability and further information.

Floating on the Saco River - Saco River Tubing Center offers tours. Reservations are recommended.

Skiing - There are 12 ski resorts within a one-hour radius, which makes the options endless. Our favorites are:

  • Cranmore Mountain - family-friendly ski resort that is an easy, 3-5 minute drive from the house. Their ski school is wonderful, and the instructors are friendly and accommodating. We love having lunch in the winter at the Meister Hut on the summit. They also have the best snow tubing park.

  • Bretton Woods - great skiing and an amazing new summit lodge, about a 40-minute drive. We also love snowshoeing at the Nordic Center, where they have inexpensive rentals and a small lodge with a restaurant and bar if you want to escape the crowds. It’s also worth walking around the Omni Mount Washington Resort.

  • Wildcat Mountain - classic, old-school mountain with the best views of Mount Washington.

Mini Golfing - in the warmer months, there are plenty of mini-golfing places to choose from. We particularly like Pirate’s Cove.

Jackson Falls - a smaller fall just up the road in Jackson. It’s a great place to pack a lunch and find a spot to cool off in the warmer months.
